Selkirk Rex originated in the USA. In 1987, a breeder in Sheridan, Montana, was asked to look at an unusual kitten that was in a local shelter. It had slight curls and waves in the coat. The breeder, Jeri Newman, was interested in feline genetics, so she adopted the kitten and later bred it to one of her Persians, Photo Finish of Deekay. On July 4th 1988, the stray, wavy “kitten”, now named Miss DePesto of NoFace, gave birth to six kittens. Three of them had a curly coat and three were straight coated. Jeri knew this 50% ratio was exactly what would have been expected from a dominant gene for curl. She was fascinated with this concept and decided to explore the development of a new breed based on the curly coat. She gave the breed the name “Selkirk” rex to keep the same theme as the Cornish and Devon regional names, after the Selkirk Mountains and a stream near to her house.

'Buggles' is such a gorgeous little lad, he has all my old lines running way back to his Great Great Grandparents, so lovely to have a lad that I know I've had an input in to 5 of his generations. Mixing the best Trueblu, Acozni, Rebuss, Steelaway, & Insiders lines, his pedigree is a joy to read.

'Buggles' has been run on to show as a kitten and now enjoying his adult show career. He produced his first Amazolou babies in 2020 and they all fantastic, he definitely passes on size and curls.

As Bella's Mum 'Boo' is now speyed we had to keep one of her last litter to keep the lines going on as a 4th generation Amazolou mating and a direct descendant to one of my first Selkirk Boys TICA SGA Trueblu Jetranger. So far, it looks like she's inherited her GGG-Grand Sires bright green eyes..


Bella, attended her first show in September 2023 and was awarded 2 Champion Certificates and then gained her Champion title at the following show in Doncaster where she won a further 2 Certificates.

We are really pleased to introduce little Kokomo, she met our boys in late 2024 and produced some lovely Selkirk babies.

Kokomo has all my old lines in her background and some lovely imported lines to add to the mix.

Kokomo has been shown as a Pedigree-Pet in GCCF as a kitten as she doesn't conform to the usual Selkirk standard (no-curls) and won Best of Variety and Best in Show Pedigree Pet. She has such an adorable personality and won over all the judges.

We were so pleased to welcome in to our home the wonderfully curly Karam Chameleon. Both of his parents are Amazolou Bred and I thought it would be lovely to have this little baby to return to his roots. Liz and Dave have done a fantastic job of raising such a lovely friendly and simply bonkers kitten in Karma. As Kharma has grown we've realised he is just too cute and loving to be resigned as a stud boy, so we've neutered him and now showing as a neuter.
